How to copy trades between Tradovate accounts

Yes, you can copy trade on Tradovate: trade one account and your other Tradovate accounts take the same positions automatically. This guide shows how to set that up with TradeCopier.cloud, whether the accounts share one Tradovate login or sit at different prop firms, and how to size each follower in contracts. The copier runs in the cloud, so you don't need a VPS, NinjaTrader or TradingView open.

Tradovate

The master is the Tradovate account you actually trade. You can place orders on it from Tradovate's own apps, TradingView or NinjaTrader, because the copier follows the account rather than the app. It can be a demo or prop login or a live one, including a NinjaTrader brokerage account.

Each follower is another Tradovate account that repeats the master's trades. It can be on the same login as the master or on a separate login at another firm, and it has its own sizing, aliases and protection settings.

Can you copy trade on Tradovate?

Tradovate's own Group Trade can place one order across a group of accounts, but Tradovate's help says it only works between accounts held with the same brokerage provider. Traders who run evaluations or funded accounts at several firms usually end up with separate Tradovate logins, and that's where a copier helps: you trade one account, and the others follow at the size you pick for each.

How it works

TradeCopier.cloud keeps each Tradovate login connected from its servers and watches the master's positions. When the master opens or closes a position, every follower places the matching order, sized by its own settings. To set it up:

  1. Sign in to the master's Tradovate login from the dashboard. Tradovate's page opens in a popup, and the login's active accounts are listed once you're signed in.
  2. Sign in to each follower login the same way. Accounts on a login you've already connected show up straight away.
  3. Add each follower and pick its sizing mode: Equity-to-Equity, Contract Multiplier, Risk Multiplier or Fixed Contracts.
  4. If a follower should trade micros while the master trades minis, add an alias such as YM to MYM at ten times the contracts.
  5. Set account protection and any symbol whitelist or blacklist for the follower.
  6. Place a one-contract test trade on the master and check that each follower opens and closes it as expected.

Things to consider

Several accounts under one Tradovate login and logins at different firms are set up the same way. Demo or prop logins and live logins can be mixed, so one setup can include an evaluation and a live account. If Tradovate ends a sign-in, the Accounts page shows a Sign in to Tradovate again button, and the login's accounts reconnect once you sign in. Each prop firm decides what it allows for copy trading, so check every firm's current rules before copying at full size.

Frequently asked questions

Can you copy trade on Tradovate?

Yes. Connect the Tradovate account you trade as the master and your other Tradovate accounts as followers. Each trade on the master is then placed on the followers automatically.

Does Tradovate have a built-in trade copier?

Tradovate has Group Trade, which places an order across a group of accounts. Tradovate's help says it only works between accounts held with the same brokerage provider, so traders with logins at different firms usually use a separate copier.

Is there a limit on how many Tradovate followers I can add?

One master can lead several followers, each with its own settings. See the pricing page for how accounts are billed.

Can a follower trade micro contracts when the master trades full-size ones?

Yes. Add a symbol alias on the follower, such as YM to MYM at ten times the contracts, and that follower trades the micro instead of the mini.

Does TradingView or NinjaTrader have to stay open while copying?

No. The copier runs in the cloud and follows the Tradovate account itself. You can place trades from any app, and nothing has to stay open for the followers to copy them.
