Forex to Futures Trade Copying

cTrader to Tradovate: copy CFD trades as futures

cTrader traders can bring a Tradovate futures account into the same setup: the Tradovate follower takes each position you open on cTrader, converted to whole contracts. Sign in to Tradovate from the dashboard (NinjaTrader brokerage accounts connect the same way), choose your cTrader account as the master, and add an alias for each cTrader symbol that should reach the futures account, for example XAUUSD=GC or US30=MYM. A symbol whitelist keeps everything else on cTrader only. Check what both firms allow before you start copying.

Why copy from cTrader to Tradovate?

This setup suits traders whose strategy runs on cTrader at a forex/CFD broker or prop firm and who have added a futures account on Tradovate. The Tradovate account follows the cTrader master, so each trade is placed once and both accounts stay on the same side of the market.

How it works

Add the cTrader account as a master and the Tradovate account as a follower, connected through Tradovate's own sign-in, then pick the cTrader account as the follower's master. Give the follower a symbol alias for each CFD you want copied, such as US30=YM or XAUUSD=GC: the alias names the contract root, and the copier trades the front month. The follower's sizing mode converts lots to contracts and rounds them to a whole number.

Things to consider

Copies are rounded to whole contracts, and a trade that rounds to zero, such as 0.1 lots at a multiplier of 1, isn't opened; Fixed Contracts opens a set number of contracts instead. A CFD lot and a futures contract rarely carry the same exposure, so compare the value of a point on both sides and test with one contract. Check the rules of both firms before you copy between them.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Tradovate account need an alias for every symbol?

Yes, for each CFD you want copied. The alias pairs the cTrader symbol, written exactly as the master shows it, with a contract such as YM, M2K or MGC. A symbol whitelist keeps the other instruments off the futures account.

How are lots turned into contracts?

The follower's sizing mode converts each trade and rounds it to whole contracts. With Contract Multiplier, lots × the multiplier gives the contracts; Fixed Contracts always opens the number you set. A trade that rounds to zero contracts isn't copied.

Can Tradovate copy to cTrader as well?

Not yet. cTrader followers can't take a futures master for now, while MT4 and MT5 followers can. Copying from cTrader to Tradovate works as described above.
