How to copy trades across your TopstepX accounts

If you hold several TopstepX accounts, you can trade one and have the others follow. TradeCopier.cloud connects to TopstepX through the ProjectX API, lists the accounts it's allowed to trade, and copies the master's trades to each follower at the contract size you set. Before you start, read Topstep's own copy-trading rules: this guide covers the setup, not what Topstep allows.

Can you copy trade on TopstepX?

As far as TradeCopier.cloud is concerned, yes: any TopstepX account the ProjectX API lets it trade can be a master or a follower. Whether copying is allowed on your accounts, and on what terms, is up to Topstep. Topstep also offers a copier inside TopstepX itself; TradeCopier.cloud is useful when you also want followers on Tradovate or Rithmic, or want to manage TopstepX next to your other accounts in one dashboard.

How it works

One ProjectX API key covers a TopstepX user, so a single connection lists every account on it. Accounts that can't be traded are greyed out with the reason next to them: "Live accounts can't be managed through the ProjectX API" or "Trading is disabled on this account". The setup:

Set up ProjectX API access and create an API key, following Topstep's instructions.
In the dashboard, connect TopstepX with your username and the key. The accounts on that user are listed.
Choose the master account, then add each follower from the same list.
Pick a sizing mode for each follower, such as Fixed Contracts or Contract Multiplier.
Turn on account protection and set any symbol filters.
Place a one-contract test trade on the master and confirm every follower copies it.

Things to consider

Only simulated accounts that are open for trading can be added, so live TopstepX accounts aren't available. Topstep's rules on copy trading, position size and account limits apply to every account and change from time to time, so check Topstep's help centre before copying and again whenever your account types change. Start small: one contract on the master is enough to confirm the setup.

Can you copy trade on TopstepX?

TradeCopier.cloud can copy between any TopstepX accounts the ProjectX API lets it trade. Whether Topstep allows copying on your accounts depends on Topstep's current rules, so check those first.

Which TopstepX accounts can I add?

Simulated accounts that are open for trading. Live accounts can't be managed through the ProjectX API, and accounts with trading disabled are greyed out too.

Do I need a separate API key per account?

No. One ProjectX API key covers your TopstepX user, and connecting it lists every account on that user.

Can I add Tradovate or Rithmic followers too?

Yes. A TopstepX master can also copy to Tradovate and Rithmic accounts, each connected with its own login.
