Cross-Platform Trade Copying

MetaTrader 4 (MT4) to cTrader

Copying trades from MetaTrader 4 to cTrader bridges two of the most established platforms in retail forex trading. MT4's deep ecosystem of strategies meets cTrader's institutional-grade execution environment — TradeCopier.cloud connects them without requiring any code changes or platform migrations.

MetaTrader 4 (MT4)

MetaTrader 4 is the world's most widely deployed forex trading platform. Its longevity is built on a massive broker network, a rich Expert Advisor ecosystem, and a familiar interface that millions of traders have used for years. Despite being older technology, MT4 remains the primary platform at a large number of retail brokers and some prop firms.

cTrader

cTrader is developed by Spotware and is known for its clean interface, transparent execution, and Level II pricing. It's particularly popular among ECN and STP brokers due to its support for true market depth. cTrader also has its own algorithmic trading language (cAlgo/cBots) and supports advanced order types including stop-limit orders. Its open API makes it well-suited for integration with external tools like TradeCopier.cloud.

Why copy from MetaTrader 4 (MT4) to cTrader?

Traders copy from MT4 to cTrader for several reasons: their primary strategy runs on MT4, but they have a funded account or a preferred broker that operates exclusively on cTrader. Rather than learning a new platform or porting their strategy to cBots, a trade copier lets them keep their workflow intact. It's also used by signal providers who want to broadcast MT4-based signals to subscribers using cTrader accounts.

How it works

TradeCopier.cloud connects to your MT4 account as the master and your cTrader account as the slave via the cTrader Open API. Trade events on MT4 — opens, modifications, partial closes, and full closes — are mirrored on cTrader in real time. Lot size ratios can be configured so that the slave account trades proportionally to the master, regardless of account size differences.

Things to consider

cTrader uses a different order model than MT4. MT4 uses a ticket-based system while cTrader uses position IDs. TradeCopier.cloud handles this translation internally. Note that cTrader's minimum volume increments may differ from MT4, so very small lot sizes may be rounded to the nearest valid increment on the cTrader side.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything on my MT4 or cTrader platform?

No. TradeCopier.cloud is fully cloud-based. You connect your accounts via credentials in the dashboard — no EAs, plugins, or bridges needed.

Can I copy from cTrader to MT4 instead?

Yes. The master/slave roles are configurable. You can set cTrader as the master and MT4 as the slave if that suits your setup.

Which cTrader brokers are supported?

Any broker that uses the standard cTrader platform and has the cTrader Open API accessible is supported. This covers the vast majority of cTrader brokers.
